An identifying symbol or mark of your business is what we refer to as a logo design. What comes to mind when you hear the words Apple, Facebook, or Nike? I’m very sure you pictured the different logos of each company. Also, you might see the colour of their brand. (You can read about the importance the colour of the logo here.) Although large companies have a larger marketing budget, it doesn’t determine the visual impact of a logo. However, the marketing strategy is not the same when you run a big corporation or a small business. A large company will spent thousands or even millions on a branding as the value of it is different for them. They cannot afford to make a mistake on their brand as it could cost millions of them. A small company is more flexible.
Clarity and simplicity are important parts of a logo, keep it clean, simple and clear. Running a car dealership doesn’t mean your logo should include an image of a car. Don’t make unnecessary complications or fancy additions.
As a business, you need to ensure your logo design is relevant to your target market, your client, as well as the business you are operating. If you are running a car dealership, your logo shouldn’t have a design which implies you are running a cruise liner. What will appeal most to your clients? Who is your target market? What do you want to tell people about your business? These are some questions which can help shape your branding.
Trends can be very helpful for a certain period but they go out of date quickly. Creating a logo which doesn’t depend on trendy imagery, typefaces, and colors will ensure it stands the test of time. Your logo must last a long time if you are hoping to run a business for a long period. Constantly updating a business logo makes it difficult to build loyalty and trust with your customers. Also, it makes hard to remember your business.
If you wish to use your logo on a billboard, will it look as good as it does on a business card? Can it be adjusted for use in any format for social media marketing? These are important questions that need to be answered. Drawing a design in a vector format will allow scale it without negative impacts. A professional designer is necessary to achieve a high-quality design solution. Creating a logo is not an easy task there is lot of thing what the designer needs to consider.
To produce a distinct logo, a simple and powerful image will do the trick. A logo which is unique will always be easy to memorize. Consider the Coca-cola logo, in over 124 years of operation, only a few minor changes have been made to the original logo.
